"Parks and Recreation" takes a brief hiatus

Last week, NBC announced that it had cancelled Freshmen shows Ironside and Welcome to the Family. The one important piece of news The Peacock network forgot to mention: It will also be putting comedy Parks and Recreation on a hiatus until early 2014.

Only four more episodes are scheduled to air in 2013, 2 on November 14th and 2 on November 21st. One of the episodes will be a Halloween themed show. The time slot vacated by Parks and Recreation will be filled by The Voice, an SNL clip show, and a live version of The Sound of Music starring Carrie Underwood.

The other two comedies currently on Thursday nights: Sean Saves the World and The Michael J. Fox Show are struggling to find an audience and may not last the full season.  Community will replace Welcome to the Family, but there has been no mention of what will fill the void if the other comedies get the ax.

Parks and Recreation will return on January 9th.
