"How I Met Your Mother" has been on the air for 8 years and viewers still does not know who Ted will marry. Recent episodes have given us more information about who she may be and even hinting that she may be unveiled in the season finale. Until then, read this article I wrote in 2011 with my top three picks on who should play the Mother.

“How I Met Your Mother” first premiered in 2005. After six hilarious seasons, viewers still don’t know who the mother is. With all the laughing we are doing when we watch, are we really worried about that? No. However, over the years viewers have been teased with “Mother” contenders like Sarah Chalke and Rachel Bilson, and have probably even envisioned an actress or two to take over the coveted role of Mrs. Ted Mosby. Here is a look at three actresses that would be an ideal “Mother”.
Alyssa Milano has been on television for year starring on hit shows like “Who’s the Boss” and “Charmed”. Sadly, her last show, “Romantically Challenge,” was cancelled after one season. Milano is beautiful, smart, and funny. That combination will make her Ted’s perfect dream girl and a great addition to an already get comedy.
The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” actress has not been seen much in recent years, except for popping up once in awhile on “Greek”. Carpenter is great with comedic timing as showcased by her turn as Cordelia Chase from 1997-2004. Plus, she has already worked with Alyson Hannigan, so the on-screen chemistry will already be present.
Minka Kelly is already attached to star in the new “Charlie’s Angels” reboot, but that doesn’t mean she can’t play double duty on “How I Met Your Mother”. Kelly is no stranger to television starring on critically acclaimed “Friday Night Lights” and making multiple guest appearances on “Parenthood”. It is about time this lovely lady delved into comedic acting and what better place than an ensemble comedy like “How I Met Your Mother”?
Who do you think should play Mrs. Ted Mosby?
